Why is my Ford Ranger's high idle is too high?

I recently noticed that the idle on my Ford Ranger is running consistently too high. It's usually around XYZ RPM, even when I'm not pressing the gas pedal. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

It sounds like your idle air control valve may be malfunctioning. This can cause your idle to stay too high. I would recommend getting it checked and replaced if necessary by a mechanic or dealership.

Another common reason for high idle in Ford Rangers is a dirty or faulty mass air flow sensor. This sensor helps regulate the amount of air entering the engine and can affect the idle. Try cleaning or replacing it to see if that resolves the issue.
