What are the common problems with the Ford S-Max's cooling system?

I've noticed that my Ford S-Max's temperature gauge is fluctuating and sometimes the engine overheats. This problem seems to occur randomly and I'm not sure how to fix it. Could it be a faulty thermostat or a leak in the radiator? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's possible that the thermostat or radiator could be the issue, but it could also be a problem with the water pump or a clogged coolant system. I would recommend having a mechanic inspect your car and perform a cooling system pressure test to pinpoint the exact cause.

I had the same problem with my Ford S-Max and it turned out to be a faulty coolant temperature sensor. It was an easy and inexpensive fix, so I would suggest checking that first.

I have a Ford S-Max as well and I've had consistent issues with its cooling system. In my experience, it's been a combination of a worn out thermostat, a leaking radiator, and a faulty water pump. I would recommend replacing all three to avoid future problems.
