How do I change the oil in my Ford Ranger?

I have a Ford Ranger and I need to change the oil. Can anyone give me step-by-step instructions on how to do it? I'm a beginner at car maintenance.

First, make sure you have all the necessary tools and supplies. You'll need a wrench, oil filter wrench, new oil filter, and new oil. Start by locating the oil drain plug underneath the car. Place a container under the plug and use the wrench to loosen and remove the plug. Let the oil drain completely. Then, remove the old oil filter and replace it with the new one. Add the recommended amount of new oil and replace the drain plug. Make sure to properly dispose of the old oil.

Before starting, make sure the engine is warm, but not hot. This will make the oil easier to drain. As you drain the old oil, visually inspect it for any debris or metal shavings. This could indicate internal engine damage. Also, check the gasket on the old oil filter and make sure it comes off with the filter. If not, remove it before installing the new filter.

I recommend using a high-quality synthetic oil for your Ford Ranger. It may cost a bit more, but it will provide better protection for your engine and allow for longer oil change intervals. Make sure to also check the owner's manual for the recommended oil weight and amount for your specific Ranger model.
