How do I change the transmission fluid in a Ford Fiesta?

I've recently purchased a used 2015 Ford Fiesta and was wondering about the process of changing the transmission fluid. The car has over 50,000 miles on it and I want to make sure it's maintained properly. Can someone provide step-by-step instructions on how to do this? Thank you!

Hi Maria, congratulations on your new car purchase! To change the transmission fluid on your Ford Fiesta, you'll need a few tools and the correct type of fluid. Start by warming up the car by driving for about 5-10 minutes, which will make the fluid easier to drain. Then locate the drain plug underneath the car and place a pan under it to catch the old fluid. Use a socket wrench to remove the plug and let all the fluid drain out. Once it's done draining, replace the plug and refill the transmission with the appropriate type of fluid. Make sure to check the owner's manual for the correct type and amount of fluid. I recommend doing this every 30,000 miles for optimal performance.

Hey Maria, I've been a Ford mechanic for 8 years and changing the transmission fluid on a Fiesta is fairly straightforward. Like John mentioned, you'll need to warm up the car and drain the old fluid from the drain plug. However, I recommend also changing the transmission filter while you're at it for better results. You can usually find the filter inside the transmission pan, which is located underneath the car. Once you replace the filter and put everything back together, refill the transmission with proper fluid and you're good to go. This should be done every 30-40,000 miles to maintain the health of your transmission.
