How do I check the transmission fluid level in my Ford Transit Custom?

I've been experiencing some strange shifts and noises while driving my Ford Transit Custom and I suspect it may be due to low transmission fluid. How can I check the fluid level and what should I do if it's low?

To check the transmission fluid level in your Ford Transit Custom, first warm up the engine and park on a flat surface. Then, locate the transmission fluid dipstick, usually labeled with a yellow handle. Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, and insert it back into the transmission. Pull it out again and check the fluid level. If it's below the recommended level, add transmission fluid as needed.

Another important thing to check while you're at it is the color and condition of the transmission fluid. If it's dark or has a burnt smell, it's time for a transmission flush and fluid change. This can help prevent further issues and extend the life of your transmission.
