I recently bought a used Ford Fiesta and I want to ensure that everything is running smoothly. How can I check the transmission fluid and what should I be looking for?

You can easily check the transmission fluid level by locating the dipstick, usually labeled with a bright yellow handle. Make sure your car is on level ground and the engine is warm. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean. Re-insert it and pull it out again to get an accurate reading. The fluid level should be between the min and max markers.
