How do I know if my Ford Puma's battery is dead?

My friend just bought a used Ford Puma and it won't start. I'm guessing it's because the battery is dead. How can we verify if it's the battery or something else?

First, try jump-starting the car with jumper cables and another running vehicle. If that doesn't work, you can take the battery to a local auto parts store to have it tested for free.

You can also use a voltmeter to check the voltage of the battery. A fully charged battery should have a voltage of around 12.6 volts. Anything below 12 volts may indicate a dead battery.

Make sure to also check the battery terminals for any corrosion and clean them if necessary. If the battery is not the issue, it could be a problem with the starter or alternator.
