How often should the gearbox oil be changed on a Ford Galaxy?

I recently purchased a used Ford Galaxy and I'm not sure how often the gearbox oil should be changed. Can I wait until the recommended mile interval or should I do it sooner?

As a general rule, it's recommended to change gearbox oil every 60,000 miles or every 5 years, whichever comes first. However, if your car is driven under harsh conditions, such as stop-and-go traffic, towing, or driving in extreme temperatures, it's best to change the oil more frequently to maintain its optimal performance. It's also a good idea to check the oil level and condition every few months.

I recommend changing the gearbox oil every 30,000 miles. This may seem excessive, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Gearbox oil is crucial for lubricating and protecting the intricate components in your transmission. It's important to keep it clean and fresh, especially if you plan on keeping your Ford Galaxy for a long time.
