How to change the oil in a Ford Focus?

I recently purchased a Ford Focus and want to know the proper procedure for changing the oil. What tools do I need and how often should I do this maintenance?

To change the oil in your Ford Focus, you will need a socket wrench, oil filter wrench, oil drain pan, and new oil and filter. The oil should be changed every 5,000 to 7,500 miles or every 6 months, whichever comes first.
