What is the best engine choice for my Ford Fiesta?

I'm considering buying a Ford Fiesta but I'm not sure which engine would be the best choice for my needs. Should I go for the 1.0L Ecoboost or the 1.6L Duratec? Also, which transmission would be better - manual or automatic?
