What is the process for changing the transmission fluid on a Ford Puma?

I recently purchased a used Ford Puma and was wondering when I should change the transmission fluid and how to do it properly? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi John, congratulations on your new Ford Puma! The transmission fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles or every 2 years, whichever comes first. To do it properly, warm up the engine and then remove the transmission oil drain plug to drain the old fluid. Then, replace the drain plug and refill with new transmission fluid to the appropriate level. Make sure to use the recommended type of fluid for your specific model. If you need more detailed instructions, consult your vehicle's manual or a certified mechanic. Best of luck!

Hello John, I've owned a few Ford Pumas and have changed the transmission fluid multiple times. Here's a tip - when refilling, make sure the fluid reaches the appropriate level while the engine is running and the fluid is warm. This will ensure that the level is accurate. As for the type of fluid, I've always used Ford's Motorcraft Mercon LV, but double check with your owner's manual to be sure. Keep up with regular maintenance and your Puma will run smoothly for years to come!
