What kind of oil should I use in my Ford Transit Custom?

I just got a new Ford Transit Custom and I'm wondering what type of oil would be best for my engine. Should I use conventional oil or synthetic oil? Is a high mileage oil necessary? Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on your new Ford Transit Custom! For optimal engine performance, I would recommend using a synthetic oil with a viscosity of 5W-30. Synthetic oil provides better protection against engine wear and has a longer lifespan compared to conventional oil. As for high mileage oil, it is not necessary unless your vehicle has over 75,000 miles on it.

First, check your owner's manual for the recommended oil type. Generally, Ford engines are designed to use synthetic oil. It may cost a bit more, but it's worth it for the added performance and protection. As for high mileage oil, it's only necessary if your engine has noticeable wear or leaks.

I've been a mechanic for 10 years and I always recommend using synthetic oil in vehicles, especially in Ford engines. It's worth the extra cost for the benefits it provides. Stick to the recommended viscosity for your specific engine and change it every 5,000 miles. And don't worry about high mileage oil, it's a marketing tactic and not necessary.
