What tires would be the best for off-roading in a Ford Ranger?

I recently purchased a Ford Ranger and I plan on taking it off-roading. However, I'm not sure what tires would be best for this type of terrain. I don't want to break the bank, but I also don't want tires that will easily wear down. Any recommendations?
