Why do Ford Rangers have a six-cylinder engine instead of a four-cylinder engine?

I am planning to purchase a Ford Ranger but I noticed that most models have a six-cylinder engine instead of a four-cylinder one. What are the advantages and disadvantages of having a six-cylinder engine in a Ford Ranger? Is it worth the extra cost?

As an experienced mechanic, I would recommend going for the six-cylinder engine as it offers more power and torque, making it suitable for towing and hauling heavy loads.

In my opinion, the six-cylinder engine is overkill for a compact pickup truck like the Ford Ranger. If you will only be using it for regular daily driving, a four-cylinder engine should suffice.

I personally love the smooth and powerful performance of the six-cylinder engine in my Ford Ranger. It may come at a higher price but it's definitely worth it in the long run.
