Why does my Ford Focus make a weird noise when I turn on the AC?

I have noticed that whenever I turn on the AC in my Ford Focus, it makes a strange rattling or buzzing noise. It doesn't seem to affect the performance of the AC, but I'm worried it's a sign of a larger issue. Is this something I should be concerned about?
