Why does my Ford Mondeo make a squeaking noise while driving fast?

I just recently bought a used Ford Mondeo and noticed that whenever I drive fast, there's this high pitched squeaking noise coming from the engine. Could it be due to a worn out engine belt or something else? I'm not very knowledgeable about cars so any advice would be greatly appreciated!
