Why does my Ford Ranger have a rough idle?

I recently bought a 2019 Ford Ranger and I've noticed that when I come to a stop, the engine sometimes feels like it's struggling to maintain a steady idle. Is this a common issue with Ford Rangers? If so, what could be causing it and how can I fix it?

Hi Jennie, rough idle in Ford Rangers is a common issue, and it can be caused by a variety of factors. It could be due to a dirty or clogged air filter, faulty spark plugs, or even a problem with the fuel system. I recommend taking it to a trusted mechanic to get it checked out and properly diagnosed.

Jennie, another possible cause of rough idle could be a malfunctioning idle control valve. This part helps regulate the idle speed, and if it's not functioning properly, it can cause the engine to idle roughly. I suggest getting it checked and possibly replaced if needed.

Hey Jennie, I had a similar issue with my Ford Ranger and it turned out to be a problem with the EGR valve. This part recirculates exhaust gases back into the engine for better fuel efficiency, but if it's faulty or clogged, it can cause rough idle. A mechanic should be able to clean or replace it for you.
