Why does my Ford Ranger's engine make loud noises while idling?

I recently purchased a Ford Ranger and I noticed that the engine makes a loud rattling noise while idling. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Alex, it's not unusual for a Ford Ranger's engine to make some noise while idling. However, if the rattling noise is excessive or accompanied by other symptoms, it could be a sign of a bigger issue. I recommend taking it to a trusted mechanic for a thorough inspection.

Hey Alex, I also own a Ford Ranger and noticed the same issue. After some research, I found that this is a common problem with older models. You can try using a higher grade of oil or adding some additives to help reduce the noise.

I had the same problem with my Ford Ranger and it turned out to be a loose heat shield. Have someone check if the heat shield is securely attached to the exhaust manifold.
