Why does my Ford S-Max engine make a rattling noise?

I recently noticed that my Ford S-Max engine makes a strange rattling noise whenever I start the car. It goes away after a few minutes but it's quite concerning. Is this something I should be worried about?

One of the common causes of rattling noises in Ford S-Max engines is a faulty pulley or belt. Make sure to check and replace these components if needed to prevent further damage.

It could be a sign of a worn out timing chain or tensioner. It's important to get this checked out by a mechanic as soon as possible to avoid any potential engine damage.

It could also be caused by loose engine mounts or exhaust heat shields, which are relatively easy and inexpensive fixes. I recommend taking it to a mechanic to properly diagnose the issue.
