Why does my Ford S-Max keep stalling when I come to a stop?

I recently purchased a Ford S-Max and have noticed that it keeps stalling when I come to a stop. It seems to happen more frequently when the car is in gear and there is no pattern to when it happens. What could be causing this issue?

It could be a problem with your car's idle control valve. This part controls the amount of air entering the engine when you are not pressing the gas pedal. If it is malfunctioning, it can cause the car to stall when coming to a stop. Have a mechanic check this for you.

Another possible cause could be a dirty or faulty mass airflow sensor. This sensor measures the amount of air entering the engine and adjusts the fuel injection accordingly. If it is dirty or not functioning properly, it can also cause stalling. Try cleaning the sensor first and if that doesn't work, consider replacing it.

If your car has a manual transmission, the problem could be with the clutch. A worn or damaged clutch can cause the car to stall when shifting gears or coming to a stop. Have a mechanic inspect your clutch system and replace any worn parts.
