Why is my Ford Focus engine making a knocking noise?

I have a four-year-old Ford Focus and recently noticed the engine making a knocking sound when accelerating. The noise is more apparent when the engine is cold, but it persists even after the engine has warmed up. What could be causing this and should I be concerned?

It is possible that your engine is low on oil, causing the components to rub together and create a knocking sound. Check your oil levels and top up if necessary.

The knocking noise could also be a sign of a failing engine bearing. This is a serious issue and should be addressed by a mechanic as soon as possible.

If your Focus has a turbocharger, the knocking noise could be caused by a loose or damaged turbo fan. Have a mechanic inspect this component to ensure it is functioning properly.
