Why is my Ford Focus making a knocking noise?

I recently started to hear a knocking noise coming from my Ford Focus engine. It only happens when I am accelerating, and it seems to be getting louder. Any ideas on what could be causing this and how I should address it?

Hi Samantha, it sounds like you may have an issue with your engine's rotating assembly. This can be caused by worn bearings or loose bolts. It's important to get this checked out as soon as possible to avoid further damage.

Samantha, it's possible that the knocking noise is coming from your exhaust system. Over time, the exhaust hangers can wear out and cause the exhaust to knock against the underside of your car. Have a mechanic inspect your exhaust system for any issues.

I had a similar issue with my Ford Focus and it turned out to be a problem with the timing belt. It's important to get this fixed immediately as a broken timing belt can cause serious engine damage.
