Why is my Ford Kuga's engine making a knocking sound?

I recently purchased a used Ford Kuga and noticed that the engine makes a knocking sound when I accelerate. I haven't noticed any other issues with the car and it runs smoothly otherwise. What could be causing this and is it something I should be concerned about?

Hi Samantha, it sounds like your engine may be experiencing an issue with its timing or ignition timing. This could be caused by a number of things, such as worn out spark plugs or a faulty timing belt. I would recommend taking your car to a trusted mechanic for a thorough inspection and repair, if necessary.

I had the same issue with my Ford Kuga and it turned out to be a problem with the fuel injectors. They were clogged and needed to be cleaned. Once that was done, the knocking sound went away. I would suggest getting your fuel injectors checked as well. Good luck!
