Why is my Ford Ranger making a strange noise when I accelerate?

I recently purchased a Ford Ranger and have noticed that whenever I accelerate, there is a strange noise coming from the engine. It almost sounds like a scraping or rattling noise. Does anyone know what could be causing this and if it is something I should be concerned about? I want to make sure my new truck is in top condition.

I had a similar issue with my Ford Ranger and it turned out to be a loose heat shield. It's an easy fix and shouldn't cost much.
