It's important to address this issue as soon as possible to avoid any further damage to your engine. The knocking noise could be a sign of worn out bearings or a loose crankshaft pulley. I would recommend taking your car to a trusted mechanic for a proper diagnosis and repair.

I had the same issue with my Ford S-Max and it turned out to be a faulty engine mount. I would suggest checking all of your engine mounts to see if any are loose or damaged. If so, they will need to be replaced to eliminate the knocking noise.

Another possible cause could be low oil levels or dirty oil. Make sure to check your oil levels and if they are low, top it off with the recommended oil type. If your oil is dirty, it may be time for an oil change.
