Why is the Ford Focus making a loud noise when braking?

I recently bought a used Ford Focus and have noticed that it makes a loud grinding noise whenever I brake. It's very concerning and I'm not sure what's causing it. Any idea what could be causing this and how I can fix it?

It's possible that your brake pads are worn out and need to be replaced. It's also possible that there is debris stuck in the brake calipers, causing the noise. I recommend taking it to a mechanic to get it checked out.

I had the same issue with my Ford Focus and it turned out to be a problem with the brake rotors. They needed to be resurfaced in order to fix the noise. I suggest getting it checked by a professional as soon as possible.

Sometimes the noise is caused by a build-up of rust on the brake discs. It's a common issue with older Ford Focus cars. You can try cleaning the discs with some sandpaper or take it to a mechanic for a more thorough cleaning.
