Why is the Ford Ranger engine overheating?

I just bought a used Ford Ranger and noticed that the engine has been overheating on longer drives. I checked the coolant levels and they seem to be fine. Any ideas on what could be causing this issue?

It is possible that the radiator is clogged and needs to be flushed. You can try using a radiator flush product or take it to a mechanic for a more thorough cleaning.

Another possible cause for overheating could be a malfunctioning thermostat. It may not be opening and closing properly, causing the engine to overheat. You may need to replace the thermostat.

Check to see if the cooling fan is turning on when the engine gets hot. If not, it could be a problem with the fan itself or a faulty fan relay. You can test the fan by connecting it directly to the battery.
