Why should I prioritize getting a Ford Focus with a manual transmission?

I've been looking at Ford Focus cars and I'm wondering if it's worth getting one with a manual transmission instead of an automatic. Can someone explain the benefits and drawbacks of a manual transmission for a Ford Focus?
