How often should I change my Ford EcoSport's brake pads?

I recently bought a Ford EcoSport and I'm wondering how often I should change my brake pads. I drive about 10,000 miles per year.

It is recommended to change brake pads every 25,000 miles or two years, whichever comes first. However, if you drive in stop-and-go traffic or frequently go up and down hills, you may need to change them more frequently.

It is better to err on the side of caution and have your brake pads checked at least once a year. If you notice any squealing or grinding noises when braking, it is definitely time for a change.

You can also check your brake pads visually. If they are less than 1/4 inch thick, it's time to replace them. Don't wait until they are completely worn down as this can cause damage to your rotors.
