Is it necessary to change the timing belt on a Ford Focus?

I have a 2014 Ford Focus with 80,000 miles on it. Should I change the timing belt even though it is not recommended by the manufacturer until 100,000 miles?

Yes, it is recommended to change the timing belt at 80,000 miles to prevent potential damage to your engine. It's better to be safe than sorry!

No, you can wait until 100,000 miles as recommended by the manufacturer. However, I suggest you get it checked by a mechanic just to be sure.
