Why is my Ford Focus making a rattling noise when accelerating?

I recently noticed that my Ford Focus is making a rattling noise whenever I accelerate. It seems to only happen when I'm going at higher speeds. What could be causing this and should I be concerned?

Hi Emily, the rattling noise could be coming from a number of different sources, such as loose exhaust components or worn out engine mounts. It's best to have a mechanic take a look at it to pinpoint the exact cause. In the meantime, try not to accelerate too aggressively to reduce strain on the engine.

I had the same issue with my Ford Focus and it turned out to be a loose heat shield. It's an easy fix and shouldn't cause any long term damage to your car. Just take it to a mechanic and they should be able to tighten it up for you.
