Why is my Ford Puma's gear shifting rough?

I own a Ford Puma and lately I've noticed that the gear shift is not as smooth as it used to be. It's especially noticeable when shifting into second gear. Is this a common issue with Ford cars? What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

Hi Kieran, rough gear shifting can be caused by a variety of factors including low transmission fluid, worn clutch, or a faulty gearbox. It's important to have a mechanic diagnose the issue to determine the exact cause and find the right solution. Don't ignore the issue as it could lead to more serious problems down the line.

Hey Kieran, I had the same issue with my Ford Puma a few years ago. Turns out, it was due to a faulty clutch. I had it replaced and the gear shifting has been smooth ever since. I would recommend getting your clutch checked.

Hi Kieran, rough gear shifting can also be a result of a worn out transmission mount. This can cause the transmission to move around and affect gear shifting. Have a mechanic check the transmission mount and replace if necessary.
