First things first, don't ignore the smoking engine. It could be caused by a variety of issues such as a clogged air filter, damaged spark plugs, or a leak in the cooling system. The best thing to do would be to take your truck to a trusted mechanic to diagnose the problem.

I had a similar issue with my Ford Ranger and it turned out to be a faulty ignition coil. Make sure to check all possible causes and get the necessary repairs done to avoid any further damage.

If you notice white smoke coming from the engine, it could be a sign of a blown head gasket. This is a serious issue and should be addressed immediately to prevent any major damage to your engine.
