Why is the oil pressure warning light on in my Ford S-Max?

I recently purchased a used Ford S-Max and noticed that the oil pressure warning light is always on. I checked the oil levels and everything seems to be normal. What could be causing this issue and is it something that I need to be concerned about?

The first thing to check is the oil pressure sensor. It could be malfunctioning and giving a false reading, causing the warning light to stay on. If the sensor is faulty, it is a relatively easy and inexpensive fix.

Another possible cause could be a clogged oil filter. If the filter is dirty, it can restrict oil flow and cause the pressure to drop. I would recommend getting the filter replaced and see if the warning light turns off.

It's also worth checking the oil pump. If the pump is failing, it can result in low oil pressure. This is a more serious issue as it can lead to engine damage. I would suggest getting it checked by a mechanic as soon as possible.
