Are Ford Focus cars reliable for long distance travel?

I am planning a cross-country road trip and am considering purchasing a Ford Focus for the journey. Can I rely on this car to hold up for long distances?

I would not recommend a Ford Focus for long distance travel. I've had one break down on me during a road trip and it was a nightmare trying to find a mechanic in a remote area.
