How often should I change my Ford S-Max's oil?

I recently bought a Ford S-Max and want to make sure I keep up with maintenance. How often should I change the oil in my car and what type of oil do you recommend?

I would highly recommend following Ford's recommended maintenance schedule, which states that the oil should be changed every 7,500 miles or every 12 months, whichever comes first.

I personally change my oil every 5,000 miles to be on the safe side, but it ultimately depends on your driving habits and the type of oil you use.
