How to tell if a Ford Ranger needs an oil change?

I just bought a Ford Ranger and I'm not sure how often to get the oil changed. Is there a specific mileage or time frame that I should follow? And what type of oil should I use for my truck? Please advise!

For most Ford Rangers, it's recommended to get an oil change every 7,500 miles or every 6 months, whichever comes first. You can also consult your owner's manual for specific guidelines.

As for the type of oil, it's best to use synthetic or synthetic blend for improved engine protection and performance. Avoid using conventional oil, especially in extreme weather conditions.

I recommend using a good quality oil filter as well. It may cost a little more, but it will help prolong the life of your engine.

In addition to regularly getting an oil change, make sure to also check your oil levels and replace it if it looks dirty or has a low level. This will help keep your engine running smoothly.
