Why does my Ford S-Max have trouble starting in cold weather?

I recently purchased a used Ford S-Max and have noticed that it has trouble starting when the weather is cold. The engine cranks, but sometimes it takes multiple attempts before it finally starts. Is this a common issue with Ford S-Max vehicles? What could be causing this problem and how can it be fixed?

It is possible that your battery is weak and needs to be replaced. Cold weather can affect a weak battery and make it harder to start. I would recommend getting your battery tested at a mechanic or auto parts store to see if it needs to be replaced.

Another possible cause could be a faulty fuel pump. In cold weather, the fuel can become thicker and harder to pump, which can cause starting issues. I would suggest having a mechanic check your fuel pump to see if it needs to be replaced.

If your Ford S-Max is a diesel engine, the cold weather can also affect the glow plugs. These are responsible for heating up the air in the combustion chamber and making it easier to start in cold weather. I would recommend having your glow plugs checked to see if they need to be replaced.
