Why is my Ford Mondeo's engine making a strange sound?

I have a Ford Mondeo and recently it has started making a strange noise whenever I accelerate. It sounds like a high-pitched whistling noise that is most noticeable when the engine is cold. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

It sounds like your car's serpentine belt might be worn out or damaged. It's important to get this fixed as soon as possible, as a damaged belt can lead to more serious problems with your engine. Take your car to a trusted mechanic for an inspection and possible replacement.

This could also be caused by a faulty or loose hose in the engine. Check all of your hoses and replace any that are damaged or worn out. If the noise persists, it's best to take your car to a mechanic for a proper diagnosis.

I had a similar issue with my Mondeo and it turned out to be a problem with the engine's timing belt. If you have over 100,000 miles on your car, it's possible that the timing belt is due for replacement. Take it to a mechanic to have it inspected and replaced if necessary.
