Why is the engine light on in my Ford S-Max?

I recently purchased a used Ford S-Max and noticed that the engine light is constantly on. Should I be concerned? What could be causing this issue?

It is always a good idea to have a mechanic check the engine light when it comes on, especially with a used car. It could be something minor, but it's important to get it checked out to prevent any potential problems in the future.

One possible reason for the engine light being on could be an issue with the oxygen sensor. This is a common problem with Ford cars and can easily be fixed by replacing the sensor. I recommend taking it to a trusted mechanic for a diagnostic test.

Before assuming the worst, try tightening the gas cap. A loose or damaged gas cap can cause the engine light to come on. If the problem persists, definitely have it checked by a professional.
