How often should I change the timing belt on my Ford Transit Custom?

I recently purchased a used Ford Transit Custom and I am not sure when the timing belt should be changed. The car has about 80,000 miles on it and I want to make sure I am maintaining it properly. Any advice?

It is recommended to change the timing belt every 100,000 miles or 8 years, whichever comes first. However, it is also recommended to keep an eye on the condition of the belt and replace it sooner if it shows signs of wear or damage.

I change my timing belt every 60,000 miles just to be safe. It's a relatively inexpensive maintenance item and it gives me peace of mind.
