I recently got a new Ford Puma and I want to make sure I am properly maintaining it. How do I check the transmission fluid in my car and what should I do if it is low?

To check the transmission fluid in a Ford Puma, begin by locating the transmission dipstick. It is usually labeled and has a red or yellow handle. With the car parked on level ground and the engine running, pull the dipstick out and wipe it clean with a cloth. Then re-insert the dipstick and pull it back out. The fluid level should be between the low and full marks. If it is low, add more fluid and recheck until it reaches the full mark.

If the transmission fluid is low, make sure to use the correct type of fluid for your Ford Puma. Refer to the owner's manual or consult with a mechanic if you are unsure. It is also a good idea to have the transmission inspected if you notice the fluid levels are continuously low.
