What is the best engine type for a Ford Ranger?

I am considering buying a Ford Ranger and I'm wondering what type of engine will give me the best performance and fuel efficiency. Any suggestions?

I went for the 2.7L V6 engine and it has been a beast! It may not be the most fuel efficient option, but the power is worth it. Definitely go for it if you want a more powerful truck.

I've had a Ford Ranger with the 2.0L Turbo Diesel engine for a few years now and I have no complaints. Great for towing and has decent fuel efficiency.
