Why is my Ford Mondeo making a rattling noise when I accelerate?

I recently bought a Ford Mondeo and noticed that when I accelerate, there is a rattling noise coming from the engine. It seems to be getting louder and I'm worried it might be a serious issue. Has anyone experienced this before or know what could be causing it?
